Folk Music

Alright, so today we’re going to try something entirely different from the norm. yes, you guessed it: Folk Music. With so many different styles of music available it should not be a surprise that some people like the sound of folk music. You might wonder why would these people like the rustic tunes of music which is not in any way or form like rock, pop, disco or even jazz. At first glance even though folk music does not fit into the same classes as these other forms of music, it does have a rhythm and a sense of depth that sometimes you will not hear with the other musical styles.
One of the nice things you will find about folk music is that it is not limited to one single country or even one form of musical instruments. Since the music comes from various races and cultures you can be assured that the songs, music and even the instruments used to create these works of art will be as unique as the people who sing or play. As you look at the different ways that you can hear or play this music you will discover there are various sub-genres to be found in folk music.
These sub-genres are progressive folk music, folk rock, folk metal, and electric folk. Each of these styles is loosely based on a combination of folk music and that of a mainstream musical style. As an example take folk rock. Here you have the music of folk music being combined with that of rock music. The resultant sounds have inspired artistes from the mainstream musical groups and soloists to see how they can incorporate these styles together. By listening to this interesting twist to popular music and folk music a new audience of listeners is born.
For the most part however you will find that lovers of folk music prefer to hear their music straight up. No adding or mixing to form strange new tones in what is otherwise a traditional rendition of classical musical heritage. No matter how you look at this picture you will see that in some way or form folk music is as much a part of our lives as disco, pop, classical or even rock music. The next time you hear this music being played understand how it has become intertwined with our lives. Appreciating folk music will help you to have a better range of music to listen to.
