Hard Rock

Music, there is nothing quite like it in this world. Each person’s music taste will not be the same as another person’s music taste. This means that you can enjoy classical music while at the same time being able to appreciate Jazz, Rap, and Hard Rock.

Since I happen to enjoy the flavors of Soft Rock, R&B, Jazz, and Classical as well as Hard Rock, I thought we might explore the genre of Hard Rock today. Not everyone ‘gets’ Hard Rock – after all, what joy or even music can be found in head banging, lyric screaming music that might very well knock your ear drums out if you allow it?

But a little exploration never hurt anyone and knowing a little bit about Hard Rock might enlighten you as to its likeability.

So to that end, you already probably know that Hard Rock is a very loud style of rock that features electrical guitars, bass guitars, drums, and sometimes even pianos. In the early days, Hard Rock music became popular amongst the younger generation after listening to the likes of  Kiss, AC/DC, Aerosmith, Guns N’ Roses, Bon Jovi, Van Halen, Metallica,  and Def Leppard to name but a few.

Although you might feel that these are old groups, remember that they are still the best around. If any one of these groups spews out a hit album, quite a few of us – even those who listen to mainstream music – are liable to go and buy it. For example, Bon Jovi’s “It’s my life”, and “Bed of roses”, and Aerosmith’s “I don’t want to miss a thing”.

However, just to keep things interesting, we’ll take a quick look at one of the Hard Rock groups who have made it big in recent years: Nickelback. They have spawned many a hit over the years, with songs such as “Someday”, “Photograph” and more recently, “Rockstar” (which I am currently listening to).

As you can see, there are many reasons why listening to Hard Rock music is good, and in some instances, where you would have been listening to some truly great hard rock without even realizing it!

And to leave you, here is an interesting piece of trivia that you should leave you with a smile.

Canadian band Nickelback’s name originates from the times when band member Mike Kroeger used to work at Starbucks. He would give customers their change, with the frequent words, “Here’s your nickel back”!

Try out some Bon Jovi to get your Hard Rock groove started! The song is “It’s my life”

Music Rocks My World – Does it Rock Yours?

By Nishan

Music. It can tame the soul and soothe the savage beast within you. It can move you to tears, or it can make you want to get up and dance the night away. It’s there with you through the good times…and through the bad. It floated you up onto cloud number nine when you had your first kiss, and it helped you back down to earth when your heart was broken. It’s a language without barriers – and the one thing in this world that everyone understands. Music helps to make your world a better one.

Whether you find yourself singing along at the top of your lungs completely oblivious to the fact that you are in fact quite, quite off-key; or whether you find yourself singing in the shower as you lather up, using the shower-head as an impromptu mike, you will find that music is a large part of your life.

Personally speaking, I find that music helps me to do many things, from slaving away on my computer, to cooking a virtuoso meal (a PB&J sandwich!), to taking a lazy drive down the highway with the sound of the 80’s filling my soul.

I’m not an ardent fan of any one particular genre or type of music. I find my likes and dislikes spread over a wide variety of genres, and what I listen to depends on my mood at the moment. Right now I’m listening to the quirky yet eminently listenable “Rotterdam (or Anywhere)” by The Beautiful South.

So what type of music are you into?

The list as you can see is endless, but if you regularly tune in to my Music Sack blog, you will find yourself entertained and enlightened by the different aspects of music I take a look at, including what makes some of these genres so popular.

Music. It’s all around you. What makes you rock?
