Her career in singing songs we know and love began under the label of Columbia Records. From this point five of the songs she released went to the number one slot in the Billboard 100. Faith Evans is a well known singer who has the ability of combining the music from genres like soul, R&B, and hip hop soul together. Besides being a well known singer Faith Evans is also songwriter, record producer, author and actress. Faith was born in Lakeland, Florida but she grew up in Newark, New Jersey. In 1993 she moved to Los Angles to begin her career in the music business. It was during that time she caught the attention Sean “Puff Daddy” Combs and began working under his record label. From that auspicious beginning Faith Evans appeared on the music scene.

During the time that Faith was working under Puff Daddy’s record label she met and married Notorious B.I.G. Wallace. After she became his widow she worked with Puff Daddy and released the song “I’ll Be Missing You”. The song was a tribute to her late husband. This song became a worldwide number 1 hit and it stayed on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for 11 weeks in 1997. For this collaboration effort Faith Evans and Puff Daddy received a Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance by a Duo. They also performed the song alongside Sting at the 1997 Grammy Awards.

The next song of Faith’s which received another award was “Heartbreak Hotel”. This song was a collaborated effort by Faith Evans, Whitney Houston and Kelly Price. The album Keeping the Faith which was a solo effort by Faith Evans was released in 1998. From this point on Faith would release to her fans great songs which were at times solo efforts and at others collaborated efforts.

From 2004 onwards Faith Evans who was working under a new record label released her 4^th studio album, The First Lady.
